RECORD STORE DAY 2012
RECORD STORE DAY 2012 is almost upon us. Saturday April 21st is the
designated day this time around.
First off.
RECORDS RULE. For those of you who don't know about this glorious
event - it is a once a year celebration of the sweet 'black stuff' which has warmed
all our souls, put together by its dealers - the mighty independent Record Stores
who've managed to keep us on a steady dose while those around may have crumbled.

RECORDS RULE.
Our first experience of the magical RSD was playing in a car park out the back of an ace
little Punk Rock store in Lexington, Kentucky on a sticky spring day a few years ago.
This year we'll be playing an afternoon show at
RISE RECORDS in Bristol. The good
people from our label Fiction will be working the store for the day and other Fiction
artists will be exhibiting artwork and DJ'ing on the day too.
There's many many exclusive and one off releases happening that day available in stores all over
and we'll be throwing something pretty special in there too in the form of a live LP we recorded
in Dresden, Germany, this winter, housed in a pretty sick sleeve featuring an amazing 4 horned
Ram illustration by the great London artist and metal crusader

SPIRIT SUPPORT JANE'S ADDICTION IN U.S. THROUGH MAY
So, what next?
The latest news is that throughout May we will be weaving across America's south
to open for Jane's Addiction! Some words from Liela....
What??...I am actually freaked-out by this fact, as it just seems too weird to end up
doing such a thing...I got into them when I was a bit too young to understand the
full reach of their acid-punk sexual delirium at the age of 12, but some skater friends of mine
had the band name written in tippex all over their back packs and so intrigued, I bought
the live 'XXX' on cassette as it was the first thing I could find. Blew my head off.
Then I saved up for Ritual de lo Habitual, spent half a year with it on repeat until I got hold
of Nothing's Shocking, by which time my hormones were raging and the band's
songs were the soundtrack to every emerging fantasy of mine, along with getting me through
my art homework which, of course, would involve trying to recreate naked
Siamese twins in paper mache...
I would NEVER have believed I would see them play a show, let alone share their stage.
Looks like their theatre tour is going to be more like an annual Medieval Fair, with dancers,
artists, tattooists, bakers butchers and candlestick makers all setting up stalls...

ITALIAN SHOWS ADDED TO MARCH TOUR
SYep, the Duke Spirit will be playing at MILAN MAGNOLIA on MARCH 14th
and BOLOGNA LOCOMOTIV on MARCH 15th.
Our last visit to Milan in December found us recording a session for Milano Acoustics.
They took us to a special little dive full of Cobra snake lamps, pregnant mannequins
and the guts of old grand pianos - we recorded 'Surrender'. Click on the picture below to see it.

of Villain featuring only Liela's voice and her piano.
